Upcoming Pastoral Absence

As many of you know, I have struggled with lower back pain for quite some time.  A previous surgery resulted in complications that will require a second surgery.  I have scheduled this and the Board of Deacons and I have come up with the following plan to accommodate my upcoming absence.

My surgery is scheduled for June 10th.  Consequently, my last Sunday for this program year will be June 8th.  To allow for the greatest time of recovery, I will return to the office on Tuesday, September 9th in preparation for Welcome Back Sunday on September 14th (the Board has graciously agreed to use Sunday, September 7th as a way for volunteers and our church to participate in the Victorian Fair that day).

The final Sunday of this program year will be June 22nd.  This will be our Outdoor Worship Service on the front lawn.  I will assemble this service, along with the previous Sunday, June 15th, before my absence begins.  The Spring Cookout will be after worship, following Church School Sunday on June 8th to accommodate the availability of our Fellowship Deacons.

Rev. Chris Lyman Waldron of the Highlands Congregational Church will be providing pastoral care coverage.  I am confident that all of our bases will be covered and, fear not, my Messenger articles will continue!

I am more grateful than you can imagine for these accommodations to the remainder of this program year so that I can be fully ready to roll come Welcome Back Sunday in the fall.  In the meantime, I will…

See you in church!
