Where is FCC?

Can you give directions to our church?  Of course you could.  It’s pretty easy to find your way to 121 West Foster Street in Melrose.

When it comes to our church, though, it is important to remember that we are not just “near the tracks and down a bit from the police station.”  This is especially important as we look ahead to our coming summer hiatus.

Our church is a wonderful mix of people representing all ages and many different occupations.  In fact, it is the people who gather here on Sunday mornings who really are the church.  As much as we value our church building, it is the people who make us who we are.

With that in mind, where is First Congregational Church?  It is wherever our people live out their Monday through Saturday lives each week and their July through August lives as we head into summer.

Our church is on the T as some of us commute into Boston.  Our church is in our local schools as students and volunteers, teachers and administrators.  Our church is in retirement homes and retail stores.  Our church is spread out across the country in our youth who attend colleges in various places.

Our church extends far beyond 121 West Foster Street.  If you include our mission work and our connection to the wider United Church of Christ, we are literally all over the world.

Our church exists to facilitate the ministry of its members.  That means that our church extends to wherever you go!  You, yourself, bring our church to your places of work and leisure.

That’s why it is always good to ask the question: “How can I be a disciple of Christ and a representative of First Congregational Church today?  How can I do that on this commute or this trip to the store or on my way to pick up the kids?”

The spirituality and community you find here at FCC go with you always.  What will be your ministry today?

See you in church,

–Rev. Dominic
